This is the blog of an 11th grade US History teacher trying to figure out why he became a teacher despite the fact that he hated school, and school hated him.  Since he started teaching, he’s served as a dean, professional developer, and curriculum writer, among other things.

Despite the seemingly cynical title, this blog is not designed simply to denigrate schools.  While that is certainly part of the point, he’d rather talk with other people in the education community, point out the shortcomings of the American school system, and try to figure out how to make life for his students better than it was for him.
